FAQ

1. What is the Smarter Living Research panel?

Electric Ireland are selecting a number of customers from all over Ireland to try our newest and most exciting products and services – totally free of charge! All we need is for you to provide us with some feedback now and again and in turn help us shape what we will do for our customers in the future.

2. How do I become part of this panel?

All you need to do is complete the online application and we will be in touch to let you know if you have been selected.

3. Can anyone join the panel?

We are looking for a number of our customers from all over Ireland to join the panel. Based on your application we will determine your suitability for the various products and services.

There are however some basic requirements:

  • You must be the Electric Ireland account holder
  • You must be the owner occupier of the home and remain at the address of installation for minimum 18 months
  • You must commit to remaining an Electric Ireland account holder for 18 months after panel sign up
  • You must commit to giving us some feedback from time to time as requested

4. What kind of products or services am I likely to test?

The products and services we are providing vary but most relate to your use of energy in the home. If you are successful in your application, you will be contacted with more detailed information about the particular products or services that you will be researching. You may be asked to research more than one, either together or separately.

5. Is there a cost to me, to research these products?

There will no cost to you in relation to either the product itself or the installation. You will remain on your existing Electric Ireland price plan, with discounted rates where applicable. You will continue to pay for your other existing services as normal.

Electric Ireland does not envisage that there will be any additional cost to you arising from your participation in this consumer panel.

6. If I am provided with something to research – do I have to install it myself or arrange installation?

Any products we provide that require fitting, we will arrange for a qualified, professional contractor to organise installation with you at no cost.

7. What are the steps involved in becoming a part of the Smarter Living research panel?

Step 1 – Once we have processed all the application forms we will be in touch to let you know if you have been successful. At this point we will give you more information on the product or service that you have been selected to try.

Step 2 - Once you have received the above notification, one of our contractors will be in touch within 2-3 weeks to arrange installation of your new product.

Step 3 – Once you have your product installed or your service is set up, our research partners will be in touch on a monthly basis to gather your thoughts and feedback on your product or service.

Step 4 – During the research panel period you may be contacted at any time to research additional products and services (either together or back-to-back).

8. What happens when the research panel is complete?

As a thank you for participating, and provided you have fully engaged throughout the research period, the product is yours to keep. As this is a trial, Electric Ireland cannot guarantee that all services associated with these products will be available post research.

9. What if I want the product removed after the research period is over?

As part of the agreement to participate in the consumer panel, Electric Ireland will not be responsible for replacing trialled products with the consumer’s original equipment. Original equipment, where replaced, will be left with you and at the end of the research, if you wish to revert, this would be at your own expense. Where additional equipment to the your own has been installed, to which no on-going post research services are available, these can be removed at no cost.

10. What happens if I wish to leave the consumer panel?

If you wish to leave the panel before beginning a product research phase– notify Electric Ireland of your intention by emailing us at SmarterLiving@electricireland.ie

If you wish to leave the panel during a product research phase – notify Electric Ireland of your intention by emailing us at SmarterLiving@electricireland.ie. Please note that you may be charged on your bill for the cost of the equipment received and/or uninstalling.

If you move house during the research period– please notify Electric Ireland of your intention by emailing us at SmarterLiving@electricireland.ie and we can discuss the possibility of you remaining on the panel.
